MZ's

I have owned an ES150/1 since 1983 when my brother was given it by a guy who came to buy his bicycle! It had been dropped, the owner frightened and he'd put it in the shed. The changes to the learner laws in 1982 meant that small bikes above 125cc were almost worthless.
The damage to the bike was light, rear shock adjuster arm, side panel etc. Apart from a leaky condenser it ran perfectly. The bike faired well for daily commuting until one day in 1989 when, nearly home a strange misfire finally stopped the engine - the cause, a broken crankshaft (inside the flywheel)! To date only two other failures have prevented me getting home, a broken rear drum brake shoe spring caused permanent wheel lock and in early 2002 a big end failure, which I knew was coming  but foolishly decided to ignore.
During it's life the bike has also been stolen but the drunks who took it kindly left a child's bicycle for me to go to work on!!! (The police couldn't find it's owner so I've still got it, if your interested). After pushing the my trusty MZ for a couple of hundred yards the thieves obviously short of a screwdriver couldn't start it and ripped off the nacelle, is that a Triumph word? and smashed the speedo leaving me to push it home.
