I am a semi-retired engineer with systems and environmental testing experience in the automotive, off-highway and aerospace sectors.

I worked in the vehicle and construction machinery industry for about 24 years mainly focussed on braking systems. I then moved into aerospace both as a systems engineer and test lead for a range of programmes.

I'm am an avid tinkerer, so when something stops working or breaks, I have to strip it to investigate the fault even if it's obviously scrap.

Did you know musical drinking mugs use a light sensor under a translucent cover to switch them on when you pick them up? To be honest, I don't care either but you never know when you could put that knowledge to good use!
